2. Eligibility

2.1 Competitions are open to individuals aged 18 years or over.

2.2 Entrants must be legally resident in Ireland unless otherwise stated on the competition page.

2.3 Employees of Drexl Services and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.

2.4 By entering a competition, entrants confirm that they meet the eligibility requirements.

3. Nature of Competitions

3.1 All competitions operated by An Bua are prize competitions and are not lotteries.

3.2 A skill-based qualifying question must be answered correctly to complete a paid entry.

3.3 A free entry route is available as outlined in Section 9.

3.4 Each competition has a fixed maximum number of entries, which is clearly displayed before entry.

4. Entry Process

4.1 To enter a competition, entrants must:

  • correctly answer the qualifying question, and

  • complete the entry and payment process (unless entering via the free postal route).

4.2 Upon successful entry, a ticket number is assigned automatically. Ticket numbers are not selected by entrants.

4.3 Ticket numbers are pre-generated, fixed, and cannot be altered once issued.

4.4 Each valid entry receives one ticket number unless otherwise stated.

4.5 Entry is confirmed only once payment has been successfully processed or, in the case of free postal entries, once the entry has been received and validated.

5. Visibility of Entries

5.1 For transparency, all issued entries are publicly visible on An Bua’s dedicated Entries page.

5.2 Entries are visible:

  • while a competition is live, and

  • after the competition has closed.

5.3 Entries are displayed alongside an anonymised entrant reference (for example, first name and initial).

5.4 This allows independent verification of allocated ticket numbers and the winning entry.

6. Competition Closure and Reference Draw

6.1 Competitions close when either:

  • all available entries have been allocated, or

  • the end date stated on the competition page is reached,

whichever occurs first.

6.2 If all entries are allocated before the stated end date, the system will automatically determine the next valid Irish National Lottery draw to be used as the reference draw, taking into account any published cut-off times.

6.3 An Bua is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Irish National Lottery.

6.4 Irish National Lottery results are used solely as an independent public reference point for transparency.

6.5 If a competition closes because the stated end date is reached without all entries being allocated, no reference draw will be used.

7. Determination of Winners

7.1 Winners are determined by matching assigned ticket numbers to the relevant bonus number(s) from the announced reference draw.

7.2

  • Micro Draws use one bonus number.

  • Standard Draws may use more than one bonus number from the same reference draw.

  • Any additional formats will clearly specify how bonus numbers are applied.

7.3 Bonus numbers are applied in the order published in the official draw results.

7.4 If the drawn bonus number exactly matches an allocated ticket number, that ticket number is the winner.

7.5 If the drawn bonus number does not exactly match an allocated ticket number, the winning entry will be the closest allocated ticket number below the drawn bonus number.

7.6 If there is no allocated ticket number below the drawn bonus number, subsequent bonus numbers from the same reference draw will be applied in order until a valid winning ticket is identified.

7.7 An Bua does not generate randomness and does not select winning numbers internally.

8. Competition Duration and Refunds

8.1 Each competition has a clearly stated end date, displayed on the competition page before entry.

8.2 If all entries are allocated before the stated end date, the competition will close early and proceed to the reference draw process as outlined in Section 6.

8.3 If a competition reaches its stated end date without all entries being allocated:

  • the competition will close, and

  • all valid entries will be refunded in full to the entrant’s An Bua wallet.

8.4 Wallet refunds may be used toward future competitions in accordance with the website functionality.

8.5 No rollover of entries will take place.

9. Free Postal Entry

9.1 A free entry route is available by post.

9.2 To enter for free, entrants must send a handwritten entry including:

  • full name

  • email address

  • the name of the competition

  • the correct answer to the qualifying question

9.3 Entries must be sent to the postal address listed in Section 1 and received before the competition closes.

9.4 Free entries are treated exactly the same as paid entries and receive assigned, publicly visible ticket numbers.

9.5 An Bua accepts no responsibility for postal entries that are delayed, lost, or not received before closure of the competition.

10. Prizes

10.1 Prize details are stated on each competition page.

10.2 Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable unless stated otherwise.

10.3 No cash alternatives are offered unless explicitly stated.

10.4 An Bua reserves the right to substitute a prize with one of equal or greater value where necessary due to circumstances beyond its control.

11. Winner Notification and Publicity

11.1 Winners will be contacted using the details provided at entry.

11.2 Winners may be announced publicly in an anonymised format (for example, first name and initial) for transparency purposes.

11.3 By entering, entrants consent to such announcements.

11.4 If a winner does not respond within a reasonable timeframe after contact attempts, An Bua reserves the right to select an alternative winner using the same reference draw methodology.

12. Disqualification and Abuse

12.1 An Bua reserves the right to disqualify any entrant where there is evidence of:

  • fraud,

  • abuse of the entry process,

  • manipulation of the system, or

  • breach of these Terms & Conditions.

12.2 In such cases, entries may be declared void.

13. Limitation of Liability

13.1 An Bua accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected, or incomplete due to technical or postal issues.

13.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, An Bua’s liability is limited to the value of the entry fee paid.

14. Data Protection

14.1 Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

14.2 Only anonymised information is displayed publicly on the Entries page.
